Police in Odumase Krobo have thwarted an attempt to bribe them after seizing a large amount of suspected counterfeit US dollars. The discovery and subsequent bribe attempt occurred in the Odumase Laasi area.
During an operation, officers apprehended suspects who were found with 105 bundles of what appeared to be fake US dollar notes. The money was concealed inside a metal trunk.
Following the seizure, individuals connected to the counterfeit money offered the police a sum of GH¢200,000. This was an attempt to influence the officers and avoid arrest.
The police officers on duty refused to accept the bribe. They maintained their professional integrity and proceeded with the investigation into the counterfeit currency.
The confiscated suspected fake US dollars and the money offered as a bribe have been secured by the Ghana Police Service. Investigations are ongoing to identify all individuals involved in the alleged counterfeiting operation.
