Police in Odumase Krobo have seized a large amount of suspected counterfeit US dollars. Officers found 105 bundles of the fake money. It was hidden inside a metal trunk.
The discovery was made at Odumase Laasi. Police arrested suspects in connection with the counterfeit currency.
During the operation, the suspects attempted to bribe the police officers. They offered GH¢200,000 to avoid arrest and have the money returned.
However, the police officers refused the bribe. They stated that the law must take its course.
The Ghana Police Service confirmed the seizure and the rejection of the bribe.
The suspects are now in police custody. An investigation into the source of the fake currency is underway.
This operation is part of ongoing efforts to combat financial crimes in the region.
