Police in Odumase Krobo have refused a bribe of GH¢200,000. The bribe was offered by suspects apprehended with a large amount of suspected counterfeit US dollars.
The discovery was made at Odumase Laasi. Officers found 105 bundles of what appears to be fake US currency.
These notes were hidden inside a metal trunk. The police have seized the suspected counterfeit money.
After the seizure, individuals linked to the money attempted to bribe the officers. They offered GH¢200,000 to influence the police.
The Ghana Police Service stated that their officers rejected the bribe outright. They upheld their duty to investigate the alleged criminal activity.
The suspects involved are currently in police custody. Investigations into the source of the fake currency are ongoing.
