Police in Odumase Krobo have demonstrated integrity by refusing a substantial bribe. They received GH¢200,000 from individuals suspected of dealing in counterfeit currency.
The incident occurred after officers successfully seized a large quantity of suspected fake US dollars. The notes were discovered hidden inside a metal trunk.
A total of 105 bundles of these suspected counterfeit dollar bills were recovered. The successful operation took place at Odumase Laasi.
The police officers involved reported the bribe attempt and confirmed its rejection. They also secured the suspected counterfeit currency as evidence.
Investigations into the origin and intended use of the fake US dollars are now underway. The Ghana Police Service maintains a zero-tolerance policy on corruption.
The suspects were apprehended at the scene. They will face charges related to counterfeiting and bribery.
