The Ghana Police Service has arrested seven suspects and rescued forty-eight victims in connection with an alleged human trafficking operation in Ho in the Volta Region.

According to the police, the arrests were made during two separate intelligence-led operations conducted on January 8 and January 10, 2026. The operations took place at Fiave Dablah Ayekple Street, Ho CK Road, and Somey Junction.

The suspects have been identified by police as Emmanuel Asiamah, Frimpong Jerry, Paul Mensah, Bismark Perry, Vida Gefah, Ebenezer Kwabena Owusu, and Prince Kaku. All seven are currently in police custody assisting with investigations.

Police said a total of forty-eight victims were rescued during the operations. The victims are reported to be mostly young adults and students who were allegedly lured with promises of overseas travel and employment opportunities. Investigators say the victims were held under deceptive and coercive conditions after paying money to the suspects.

Searches conducted at the various locations led to the retrieval of official-looking receipts issued to victims after payments were collected under the pretext of securing visas for travel abroad. Police also recovered assorted documents believed to be linked to other fraudulent activities.

Authorities say efforts are underway to trace the parents and relatives of the rescued victims. Police are also pursuing other individuals believed to be connected to the suspected trafficking network who are currently at large.

The police stressed that the allegations against the suspects are still under investigation and that all persons arrested are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.

The Ghana Police Service reiterated its commitment to dismantling organised criminal networks and protecting the public from scams and exploitation, particularly schemes targeting vulnerable young people.
