The Cyber Security Authority (CSA) is warning the public about a rise in scams involving online restaurants. These scams target both people ordering food and those selling it.

From January to June this year, the CSA recorded 112 cases of cybercrime related to online food services. This shows a significant increase in this type of criminal activity.

The total financial losses from these scams have reached GHC296,000. This amount represents money lost by victims of these fraudulent schemes.

The CSA has not yet detailed the specific methods used by scammers. However, they are urging caution when ordering food online.

Authorities are investigating these cases to identify and apprehend the individuals responsible for the online fraud.

This trend highlights the growing risks associated with online transactions and the need for increased vigilance.

The CSA is working to develop strategies to combat these scams and protect consumers.

Further updates on the investigation and preventative measures will be provided as they become available.
