Police in Odumase Krobo have rejected a bribe of GH¢200,000. The bribe was offered by individuals who were found with a large sum of suspected fake US dollars.
The money was discovered hidden inside a metal trunk. This happened at Odumase Laasi in the Eastern Region.
Authorities seized 105 bundles of what they believe to be counterfeit US dollar notes. The exact value of the seized currency is not yet known.
The police officers on duty refused the substantial bribe. They acted according to their duty to uphold the law. The suspects were arrested following the discovery.
Investigations into the origin of the counterfeit currency are ongoing. The Ghana Police Service is leading the effort to uncover any larger criminal networks involved.
