According to MyJoyOnline, a 51-year-old managing director, Emmanuel Ahadzie, has been remanded by an Accra Circuit Court. He is alleged to have conspired with two individuals, who are currently at large, to defraud the Chief Executive Officer of Service Machinery Ghana Limited (SMGL), Moses Kwame Williams, of $1 million.
Ahadzie faces charges of conspiracy to commit crime, specifically defrauding by false pretences. The prosecution alleges that Ahadzie and his accomplices collected the money from Williams under the guise of supplying six heavy-duty Sino trucks, but failed to deliver. The court did not take Ahadzie's plea, and he is scheduled to reappear on October 13, 2026.
Investigations revealed that Ahadzie allegedly worked with one of the accomplices to create a pro forma invoice to facilitate the payment. The victim reported the incident to the Police Intelligence Directorate, leading to Ahadzie's arrest following surveillance. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the other two alleged conspirators.
