Police in Kumasi have arrested a man for allegedly possessing counterfeit money. The Ashanti Regional Police Command took the suspect into custody.

The 45-year-old man was apprehended in the Adum area of Kumasi. This happened during a routine police patrol.

Authorities reported that the man was found with fake Cedi notes. The total value of the suspected counterfeit currency was GHS 4,500.

The Ghana Police Service stated that an investigation into the matter has begun. The exact origin of the fake currency is still being determined.

The suspect is currently in police custody awaiting further legal proceedings. Charges of possessing counterfeit currency will likely be brought against him.
