The Economic and Organised Crime Office commonly known as EOCO conducted a targeted operation at a residential premises in East Legon to dismantle a suspected gold fraud syndicate. According to a report by MyJoyOnline the tactical team apprehended four foreign nationals and two Ghanaian citizens during the exercise on the outskirts of the capital city.
Official statements from EOCO indicate that the suspects allegedly orchestrated a sophisticated scheme to defraud unsuspecting investors by offering non-existent quantities of gold. Citi Newsroom reports that investigators seized various items during the raid including laptops and mobile devices used to facilitate the fraudulent transactions.
A MyJoyOnline report further clarifies that the suspects are currently being held for interrogation as the state prepares to file formal charges. The identities of the four foreign nationals have not been publicly disclosed by officials pending the conclusion of preliminary investigations into their residency status and criminal backgrounds.

The agency maintains that the investigation remains active to determine if other collaborators are involved in the criminal network.
The suspects remain in custody and are presumed innocent until a court of competent jurisdiction determines otherwise. EOCO officials stated to the press that the case will be processed through the legal system once all evidence is documented and supplementary statements are recorded from the arrested parties.
