A 49-year-old trader has been arrested by the Tema Regional Police Command. The man's name is Issaka Mohammed.

He was apprehended for allegedly possessing 37 slabs of compressed dried plant material. This material is suspected to be Indian hemp.

The Ashaiman District Police carried out the arrest. It happened on Saturday, September 12, 2026. The time was around 11:30 p.m.

A statement from the Police confirmed the arrest. The investigation into the matter is ongoing.

Indian hemp is a prohibited substance in Ghana. Possession or dealing in it carries severe penalties under the law.

The police continue to work to reduce the flow of illegal substances in the region.

This operation is part of efforts to combat drug trafficking in Tema.
