Police in the Northern Region have stopped a vehicle carrying a large amount of dried leaves. Officers believe these leaves are cannabis.
The seizure happened during a routine check on a vehicle traveling towards Tamale. The police found the suspected drugs inside.
Two people who were in the vehicle have been arrested. They are being held in connection with the discovery.
The Northern Regional Police have stated that the seized substances will be analyzed in a laboratory. This testing will confirm if the dried leaves are indeed cannabis.
This operation is part of ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat illegal drug trafficking in the region.
The Ghana Police Service continues to conduct such checks to ensure public safety and reduce the flow of illicit substances.
Further investigations are expected following the laboratory results.
