Police in the Eastern Region have seized a large amount of dried cannabis in Koforidua. The operation took place during a snap check on a vehicle.

Approximately 500 kilograms of the substance, also known as wee, were discovered by officers conducting the check.

The vehicle was stopped on suspicion of carrying illicit materials. Upon inspection, the large quantity of dried cannabis was found.

Authorities have confirmed the seizure and have taken the substance as evidence.

The operation was carried out by the Eastern Regional Police Command.

An investigation into the source and intended destination of the cannabis is now underway.

Police have stated that actions will be taken against those involved in the transportation of the illegal drugs.

The seizure is part of ongoing efforts by the Ghana Police Service to combat drug trafficking in the region.
