The Oti Regional Police Command has confirmed the interception of a long trailer truck and the discovery of a large quantity of suspected narcotic drugs concealed in specially constructed compartments.
According to a police news release issued from the Regional Headquarters in Dambai and dated February 10, 2026, officers acting on intelligence intercepted a DAF long trailer with registration number GW 1943-09 at Dambai and conducted a search.
Police stated that although the trailer appeared empty on the surface, a detailed inspection revealed that it had been modified with six metal compartments sealed with metal plates beneath the trailer body.
The concealed compartments were opened in the presence of a suspect identified as Amidu Jubril, aged 40. Inside the compartments, police discovered four thousand parcels of compressed dried leaf substances, wrapped in yellow masking tape and suspected to be narcotic drugs.
The truck has been impounded, and all exhibits retrieved from the compartments have been retained for evidential purposes.
Police say the suspect has been detained and is assisting with ongoing investigations to establish the source of the suspected narcotics, the intended destination, and whether other persons are connected to the operation.
The Oti Regional Police Command has reiterated its commitment to combating drug trafficking and related offences and has assured the public that intelligence-led operations will continue across the region.
