Officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit of the Ghana Police Service conducted a strategic dawn operation in the Nima enclave targeting suspected drug distribution hubs. According to a Modern Ghana report the tactical team moved in during the early hours to secure the perimeter and locate specific targets known to law enforcement.

The operation resulted in the arrest of five individuals who were found at the scene during the police exercise. A report from Citi Newsroom indicates that the suspects were allegedly found in possession of quantities of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp which is a banned substance under Ghanaian law. Local residents observed the heavy police presence as the Drug Enforcement Unit coordinated the arrests and gathered evidence.

Official police records state that the seized items will undergo forensic laboratory testing to confirm their chemical composition. The Ghana Police Service has not yet released the full names of the five detainees pending further interrogation and formal charges. Authorities at the Nima Police Command confirmed that the raid forms part of a larger initiative to dismantle organized crime networks within the Accra metropolis.

As of the current reporting time the suspects remain in custody while investigations continue into the source of the suspected narcotics. A GhanaWeb update mentions that the suspects are expected to be processed for court once the preliminary investigations are concluded. Legal experts note that the accused individuals maintain a presumption of innocence until a court of competent jurisdiction determines otherwise.
