National Security has started a special operation in Kumasi. They are removing a popular drink known as the ‘Sukudai’ cocktail. This drink is sold as a way to cleanse the heart.
Tests done by the Department of Pharmacology at KNUST showed the drink is dangerous. These were preliminary investigations.
The herbal drink is called ‘Madara Sukudai’ in the Hausa language. The lab tests killed rats within 24 hours.
The scientists found harmful substances in the mixture. These substances can lead to severe kidney and liver problems.
Authorities have not yet released the full list of dangerous ingredients found.
The operation aims to protect public health. People were warned not to consume the drink.
