The Narcotics Control Commission conducted an enforcement operation in the Kadjebi District of the Volta Region based on intelligence regarding illegal drug cultivation. According to a Modern Ghana report, officials discovered a cannabis plantation spanning approximately 15 acres. The team proceeded to destroy the crops as part of national efforts to curb the production of illegal narcotics.

During the exercise, security personnel arrested four suspects who were present at the site. A GhanaWeb report indicates that these individuals are currently assisting with investigations into the ownership and distribution networks associated with the farm. The identities of the suspects have not been officially released by the commission at this stage of the inquiry.

The operation relied on information provided by members of the local community. A Citi Newsroom report states that the tip off highlighted the location of the farm within a dense forest area which made it difficult to detect through routine patrols. The Narcotics Control Commission has expressed appreciation for the public cooperation that led to the successful raid.

The commission remains the primary agency responsible for the seizure and destruction of illicit substances in Ghana. Officials confirmed that the suspects will face charges related to the unlawful cultivation of narcotic plants under the Narcotics Control Commission Act. The destroyed plants had an estimated street value that is yet to be fully calculated by forensic experts.
