A 52-year-old South African man is in custody after being arrested at Johannesburg's OR Tambo International Airport. He was found with a large quantity of heroin.

The drugs are estimated to be worth more than R2 million, which is about $122,000. The arrest occurred shortly after the man arrived on a flight from Accra, Ghana.

Members of the South African Police Service worked with the Border Management Authority. They intercepted the suspect as part of their duties.

The man has been arrested and is facing charges related to drug trafficking. Further investigations are underway by the authorities.

This incident highlights ongoing efforts to combat the flow of illegal drugs through international travel routes.

Ghanaian authorities have previously expressed concerns about the country being used as a transit point for narcotics.
