The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has closed down three businesses in Nungua. These facilities were reportedly selling regulated products that were not approved for sale.

The operation to shut down these locations was carried out with support from the Criminal Investigations Department of the Ghana Police Service. This action was the result of investigations that lasted for several months.

During the operation, officials discovered the sale of substances including nitrous oxide, also referred to as "laughing gas." The FDA stated that this substance is regulated and should not be sold without proper authorization.

Additionally, authorities found that a product called Benylin syrup was being sold in an unapproved form. The FDA regulates medicines to ensure they are safe and effective for public use.

Selling such unauthorized products poses a risk to public health. The FDA is responsible for safeguarding the public from harmful or substandard products.

The decision to close the facilities was made by the FDA after confirming the sale of these illicit regulated items. This action is part of the Authority's ongoing efforts to ensure compliance with regulations.

Further steps may be taken by the authorities based on the findings of the investigation. The FDA continues to monitor the market for illegal products.

The closure of these Nungua facilities sends a clear message about the consequences of selling unregulated goods. The public is advised to be aware of the products they purchase.
