The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has shut down three places in Nungua. These businesses were caught selling illegal products regulated by the FDA.

The FDA carried out this action with help from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service. The operation happened after months of investigation by the FDA.

Investigators discovered that the facilities were selling nitrous oxide. This gas is commonly known as laughing gas. They also found Benylin with codeine being sold illegally.

The FDA stated that these products require a prescription or approval before they can be sold. Selling them without authorization is against the law.

Authorities seized a large quantity of these illegal products during the operation. The closure of these facilities is meant to protect public health.

The FDA continues to monitor the market for unauthorized and harmful products. Their work helps ensure that only safe and approved items reach consumers.

The Ghana Police Service supports such operations to maintain law and order. This collaborative effort aims to stop the spread of dangerous substances.

Legal actions are expected to follow against the owners of the closed facilities. The authorities are committed to enforcing regulations for consumer safety.
