Officials from the Ghana Revenue Authority customs division have intercepted a significant amount of smuggled goods. The operation took place at the Aflao border.

The seizure involved 1,500 cartons of cigarettes. These items were found to be uncustomed.

The estimated value of the cigarettes, in terms of unpaid duty, is GH₵300,000. This represents a substantial loss of potential government revenue.

The cigarettes were being brought into Ghana illegally. Smuggling undermines legitimate businesses and deprives the state of tax income.

The Ghana Revenue Authority stated that investigations into the matter are ongoing. Officials are working to identify all individuals involved in the smuggling attempt.
