The Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority intercepted a significant quantity of substances suspected to be cocaine at the Tema Port. According to a report from 3News the operation took place following a high level intelligence lead regarding a container ship arriving from South America. Official sources at the port indicated that the illicit substances were meticulously concealed within a larger shipment of legal merchandise.

Personnel from the Narcotics Control Commission and the Ghana Police Service joined Customs officials to conduct a thorough search of the suspicious container. A Citi Newsroom report indicated that the packages were found in a specialized compartment designed to evade detection during routine scans. The Ghana Revenue Authority has not yet released the exact weight or the estimated street value of the seized narcotics pending a final weighing process.

The substances were transported under heavy security to a forensic laboratory for chemical analysis to confirm their composition. A report by Graphic Online stated that the vessel carrying the consignment is currently being monitored while port authorities review the manifest and documentation provided by the shipping agent. No arrests have been publicly confirmed at this stage of the investigation according to statements from officials at the scene.

National security operatives are reportedly working with international partners to trace the network behind the shipment. This seizure follows increased surveillance at the country's maritime borders aimed at curbing the flow of narcotics through West African transit points. The Ghana Police Service and the Narcotics Control Commission are expected to issue a formal joint statement once the lab results are finalized and suspects are identified in connection with the importation.
