Twenty-one people are now facing charges in Tamale. The Northern Regional Counter-Terrorism Unit’s Special Operations Team brought them before the Tamale Circuit Court. They appeared on Monday, March 9, 2026.

The suspects face serious accusations related to illegal drug activity. These include using narcotic drugs without proper authorization. They are also charged with possessing narcotic drugs.

Further charges involve the prohibited sale of restricted drugs. This means they are accused of selling drugs that are not allowed for public sale.

During the court session, five of the accused pleaded guilty. This means they admitted to the charges brought against them.

The court is expected to proceed with the legal process for the remaining defendants. Further hearings will determine the next steps in their cases.

The arrests are part of ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat drug-related crimes in the region. These actions aim to reduce the availability and use of illegal substances.
