Police in Tamale have arrested 12 people suspected of dealing and using illegal drugs. The arrests happened during a special anti-drug operation.

The operation occurred on March 14, 2026, in various parts of the city. Superintendent John Danso of the Regional Counter Terrorism Unit Special Operations Team led the effort.

During the same operation, officers discovered and rescued an abandoned baby. The baby’s condition and current whereabouts were not detailed.

The Northern Regional Police Command conducted the operation to combat drug-related crimes.

Authorities stated that further investigations are underway to understand the full scope of the drug network.

Those arrested are being processed for prosecution.
