The Northern Regional Police Command has arrested 12 people in Tamale. They are suspected of using and selling illegal drugs.
The arrests happened during a special operation on March 14, 2026. Police targeted several areas within the city.
Superintendent John Danso led the operation. He is with the Regional Counter Terrorism Unit Special Operations Team.
Eleven of the arrested individuals were found with suspected narcotic substances. These substances are being tested by the police forensics service.
Authorities also rescued an abandoned baby during the operation. The baby has been handed over to the Social Welfare Department.
The police stated that the suspects will be processed for court. Further investigations are ongoing to identify other individuals involved in drug trade.
