Police in the Central Region have opened an investigation into the death of a woman at Awutu Yamoah Nkwanta in the Awutu Senya West District following reports of a suspected domestic incident.

The deceased, identified by residents only as Sister Yaa, was found dead in her room. According to preliminary information available to the police, her body was discovered lying in a pool of blood, with a concrete block reportedly placed on her face.

Residents in the area allege that the woman was in a relationship with a man believed to be in his late thirties. The man is alleged to have attacked her after a disagreement, though police say the exact circumstances leading to the incident are still being established.

Police have not confirmed the motive for the alleged attack and cautioned against speculation as investigations continue. No official statement has been issued confirming whether a suspect has been arrested.

Officers from the Ghana Police Service visited the scene and secured the area before the body was removed for further examination. The body has since been conveyed to a mortuary for preservation and autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.

Police say statements are being taken from residents and persons who may have had contact with the deceased prior to her death. Investigators are also working to locate and question the man believed to be connected to the case.

Authorities have stressed that all allegations remain subject to investigation and that anyone implicated is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
