A 40 year old man is being held by the Ghana Police Service in Tarkwa following the alleged killing of his wife. According to reports from Adom Online the incident occurred after a domestic dispute escalated between the couple within the Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipality. Police officials have not yet released the names of the suspect or the victim pending further notification of family members.

A report from GhanaWeb indicates that residents of the community alerted the authorities after hearing a disturbance at the residence. When officers arrived at the scene they discovered the woman in a state of unconsciousness. Medical personnel later pronounced her dead. The Ghana Police Service has since processed the crime scene and moved the body to a local morgue for an autopsy to determine the official cause of death.

City Newsroom reports that local witnesses described the suspect as a middle aged man who had frequent disagreements with his spouse. The tarkwa police command stated that the suspect was apprehended without resistance and is currently assisting with ongoing investigations. Officials have recovered unspecified items from the premises which are being treated as potential evidence in the criminal proceedings.

The suspect is expected to be arraigned before a Tarkwa Magistrate Court once preliminary investigations are completed. The Ghana Police Service has cautioned the public against domestic violence and urged citizens to seek mediation for marital conflicts. At this stage the specific charges against the man have not been formalized but he remains the primary suspect in the investigation according to official police briefings.
