A mother has been remanded by the Assin Fosu District Court. The 28-year-old trader, Monica Ampomah, faces charges of assaulting her 10-year-old daughter.

The court ordered that Ampomah be held in police custody. This decision followed allegations that she used a cutlass to attack her child.

The alleged attack was reportedly carried out because the mother suspected her daughter was being sexually abused.

Presiding over the case, His Worship Abdul Majid Iliasu, also ordered a mental examination for the accused.

This examination is to determine if Ampomah is fit to stand trial.

The Judicial Service has not provided further details on the ongoing investigation.
