Authorities in the Gomoa East District have apprehended a thirty four year old man identified as Kojo Amoah following the death of his wife in Gomoa Fetteh. According to an Adom Online report the suspect allegedly engaged in a physical altercation with his spouse on Wednesday evening which resulted in her sustaining fatal injuries.
Police investigators arrived at the scene after neighbors reported hearing a loud disturbance and cries for help according to a statement from the Central Regional Police Command. Officers discovered the victim unresponsive and she was later pronounced dead at a nearby medical facility after emergency efforts failed.
The suspect is currently being held at the Gomoa Fetteh Police Station while undergoing interrogation. A report by Citi Newsroom indicates that the suspect has not yet been formally charged as detectives continue to gather evidence and record statements from family members and eyewitnesses who were present during the incident.
The body of the deceased has been transported to the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital morgue for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. Local authorities have called for calm in the Gomoa Fetteh community as the investigation proceeds and have urged residents to report domestic disputes to the police before they escalate into violence.
