Police arrested 20-year-old Promise Yayra Asamani for allegedly spreading false information on social media. This action followed a complaint made by Selasie Kwaku Anthonio, a 43-year-old Uber driver.
Mr. Anthonio reported the incident to the IGP’s Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team on Wednesday, March 11, 2026. He stated that a viral Snapchat post featured his photograph. The post accused him of being a murderer.
The Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team investigated the complaint. They subsequently arrested Ms. Asamani in connection with the post.
Ms. Asamani has been granted police enquiry bail. This means she must report to the police periodically while investigations continue. The Ghana Police Service is handling the case.
