Police have arrested and granted bail to a 20-year-old woman. She is identified as Promise Yayra Asamani.

The arrest was made by the Inspector-General of Police’s Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team. This team works to stop cybercrime and enforce online laws.

The reason for her arrest was publishing false news on social media. This action is against the law.

On Wednesday, March 11, 2026, Selasie Kwaku Anthonio reported an issue. He is a 43-year-old Uber driver.

Mr. Anthonio told the Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team about a viral Snapchat post. The post contained his photograph.

Ms. Asamani allegedly accused Mr. Anthonio of being a murderer in the post. This false accusation was shared widely online.

Following her arrest, Ms. Asamani was granted police enquiry bail. Investigations into the incident are continuing.
