The arrest was made by the Inspector-General of Police's Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team. This happened on March 11, 2026.
Selasie Kwaku Anthonio, an Uber driver aged 43, made a report to the police. He stated that a viral post on Snapchat was false.
The post included Mr. Anthonio's photograph and made serious accusations against him. These claims were untrue.
Ms. Asamani was taken into custody for publishing false news. She has since been granted police enquiry bail.
The Ghana Police Service is investigating the matter further. This action shows their commitment to tackling online misinformation.
