Police have arrested Promise Yayra Asamani, aged 20. She was arrested for publishing false news on social media.
The arrest happened on Wednesday, March 11, 2026. Asamani allegedly posted false information online about an Uber driver.
Selasie Kwaku Anthonio, a 43-year-old Uber driver, reported the incident. He filed a complaint with the Inspector-General of Police’s Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team.
The social media post included a photograph of Mr. Anthonio. Asamani accused him of being a murderer.
Following her arrest, Asamani was granted police enquiry bail. The investigation into the false publication is ongoing.
Spreading false information online can have serious consequences. Authorities are working to combat such online offenses.
