The Inspector-General of Police’s Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team arrested Promise Yayra Asamani, aged 20. She is accused of publishing false news on social media.
Selasie Kwaku Anthonio, a 43-year-old Uber driver, reported the incident. He approached the Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team on Wednesday, March 11, 2026. Anthonio was concerned about a viral Snapchat post.
The post included his photograph. It also contained claims that he was a murderer.
Asamani was arrested following the complaint. Investigations into the publication of false news were initiated by the police.
The Ghana Police Service has confirmed that Asamani has been granted police enquiry bail.
Further investigations are being conducted by the police into the matter.
