Police have granted bail to a 20-year-old woman named Promise Yayra Asamani. She was arrested for publishing false news on social media. The arrest followed a complaint from an Uber driver.
Selasie Kwaku Anthonio, a 43-year-old Uber driver, reported the incident to the Inspector-General of Police’s Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team. This happened on Wednesday, March 11, 2026.
The driver stated that a viral Snapchat post featured his photograph. The post made false accusations about him.
The Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team investigated the complaint. They found the social media post to be false.
Promise Yayra Asamani was then arrested in connection with the false publication.
She has since been granted police enquiry bail. Further investigations into the matter are ongoing by the police.
