Police arrested a 20-year-old woman named Promise Yayra Asamani. She is accused of publishing false news on social media.
The arrest followed a complaint by a 43-year-old Uber driver, Selasie Kwaku Anthonio. He reported the matter to the Inspector-General of Police’s Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team.
The complaint was made on Wednesday, March 11, 2026. The driver stated that a viral Snapchat post included his photograph.
The post falsely accused the driver of being a murderer. The Ghana Police Service is investigating the false publication.
The woman has been granted police enquiry bail. Investigations into the social media post are ongoing.
