Police have granted bail to a 20-year-old woman, Promise Yayra Asamani. She was arrested for publishing false news on social media.
The arrest was made by the Inspector General of Police’s Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team. Asamani is accused of spreading false information online.
The incident began on Wednesday, March 11, 2026. A 43-year-old Uber driver, Selasie Kwaku Anthonio, filed a complaint with the police.
The driver reported a viral Snapchat post that included his photograph. This post contained accusations the police deemed false.
The Ghana Police Service is investigating the matter. Asamani has been released on police enquiry bail.
