The Inspector-General of Police's Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team has apprehended Promise Yayra Asamani, aged 20. She is accused of publishing false information on social media platforms.

The arrest followed a complaint made on March 11, 2026. Selasie Kwaku Anthonio, a 43-year-old Uber driver by profession, reported the incident to the police.

Mr. Anthonio stated that a viral Snapchat post contained his photograph. The post also included claims that were not true.

The Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team investigated the complaint promptly. Their investigation led to the identification and arrest of Ms. Asamani.

Authorities are reminding the public about the seriousness of spreading false news online. Such actions can have legal consequences.
