Police have arrested Promise Yayra Asamani, aged 20. She is accused of spreading false news on social media. This action led to her arrest by the Inspector-General of Police’s Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team.
The incident began on March 11, 2026. Selasie Kwaku Anthonio, who is 43 years old, works as an Uber driver. He reported a complaint to the Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team.
Mr. Anthonio stated that a post on Snapchat showed his photograph. The post contained untrue accusations against him. This led to the investigation and Asamani’s arrest.
Asamani has since been granted police enquiry bail. She is cooperating with the ongoing police investigation into the matter.
The Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team is responsible for handling online crimes. Their work includes investigating cases of false publication and cyberbullying.
