A specialized task force led by the Cybercrime Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department conducted an operation in Ho to dismantle a suspected internet fraud syndicate. According to reports from MyJoyOnline and Citi Newsroom the security personnel arrested twelve individuals during the exercise in the Volta Region. The team focused on a specific location suspected of hosting activities related to cybercrime and electronic fraud offenses.

The Ghana Police Service indicated that the operation followed intelligence gathering regarding the activities of the group. Officers retrieved various electronic devices including laptops and mobile phones during the raid. These items have been seized for forensic examination by digital experts to determine the extent of the alleged fraudulent activities as reported by Daily Guide Network.

Authorities have not yet published the full names of all twelve suspects pending further verification and formal charging processes. A GhanaWeb report states that the individuals are being investigated for offenses under the Electronic Transactions Act. Preliminary investigations suggest the suspects allegedly targeted both local and international victims through various online deception schemes.

The suspects remain in police custody while the investigation continues into their alleged network. The Police CID has noted that this operation is part of a broader national strategy to combat the rising incidence of cyber related crimes in various regional capitals. Officials from the Cybercrime Unit have urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious digital activities to the nearest police station.
