A combined team of personnel from the National Security and the Ghana Police Service Cybercrime Unit conducted a targeted operation in East Legon to dismantle a suspected digital fraud syndicate. According to a Citi Newsroom report the raid targeted a building identified as a hub for sophisticated phishing activities. Officers at the scene detained 12 suspects believed to be involved in the illegal operations.

During the search of the premises security officials seized significant electronic evidence including more than 50 SIM cards from various telecommunications networks and several high end laptops. A GhanaWeb report states that the seized equipment is currently undergoing forensic examination to determine the extent of the alleged fraudulent reach. Officials from the Cybercrime Unit indicated that the hub focused on compromising personal data for financial gain.

The identities of the 12 suspects have not been officially released by the Ghana Police Service as investigations remain ongoing. A Graphic Online report mentions that the suspects are being held in custody while authorities verify their nationalities and potential links to international cybercrime networks. The case is expected to be processed for court once preliminary interrogations are completed.

National security sources told the Daily Guide that more arrests may follow as the data retrieved from the seized laptops provides new leads into the syndicate operations. The Ghana Police Service has cautioned the public to remain vigilant against phishing attempts and reported that this bust is part of a broader strategy to secure the digital ecosystem. No formal charges have been filed yet as the investigation continues.
