Police have arrested a 20-year-old woman named Promise Yayra Asamani. She is accused of publishing false news on social media.
The arrest was made by the Inspector-General of Police’s Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team. This happened after an Uber driver went to the police.
The Uber driver, Selasie Kwaku Anthonio, is 43 years old. He reported the incident on Wednesday, March 11, 2026.
Mr Anthonio told the police that his photograph was used in a viral Snapchat post. The post contained false information.
The Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team investigated the driver’s complaint.
Following their investigation, they arrested Ms Asamani.
She has since been granted police enquiry bail.
The police continue to investigate the matter.
