The Ghana Police Service has arrested Promise Yayra Asamani, aged 20. He is accused of publishing false information on social media.

The arrest was made by the Inspector General of Police’s Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team. This team works to stop online criminal activity.

The incident began on Wednesday, March 11, 2026. A 43-year-old Uber driver reported the matter.

The Uber driver told the Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team about a viral Snapchat post. This post included his photograph.

The post allegedly contained false claims that were spread widely online.

Authorities took action after the complaint was filed.

Asamani was taken into custody for further questioning and investigation.
