Police have arrested a 20-year-old woman named Promise Yayra Asamani. She is accused of publishing false news on social media.
The arrest was carried out by the Inspector-General of Police’s Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team. This unit works to stop online misinformation.
The report came from Selasie Kwaku Anthonio, a 43-year-old Uber driver. He complained to the Cyber Vetting Team on Wednesday, March 11, 2026.
Mr. Anthonio stated that a Snapchat post had gone viral. This post allegedly used his photograph without permission.
The details of the false publication are still being investigated by the police.
