National Security personnel conducted a targeted operation at a residential property in East Legon to dismantle what they described as a sophisticated cybercrime hub. According to a Ghana News Agency report, the joint task force moved on the location following intelligence regarding suspicious digital activities within the neighborhood.
Officers arrested ten suspects during the exercise and seized various electronic devices allegedly used in the commission of cyber offences. The Ghana News Agency reported that the group is suspected of orchestrating phishing scams that targeted multiple international banking institutions across several jurisdictions.
Investigators believe the hub served as a central point for harvesting sensitive financial data through fraudulent digital communications. While the primary report comes from the Ghana News Agency, the specific names of the detainees and their nationalities remain unconfirmed by the Ghana Police Service at this time.
The suspects remain in custody while the National Security task force continues its forensic evaluation of the seized hardware. Officials indicated that the operation forms part of a broader strategy to curb the rise of international wire fraud and cybercrime activities originating within the capital city.
