New technology will be used for SIM card registration. This was announced by the Minister for Communications, Digital Technology and Innovation.
He stated that facial recognition will be required for all Ghanaians as part of the SIM re-registration exercise.
The Minister explained that this is to stop people from using fake Ghana Cards to register SIM cards.
He noted that a large number of SIM cards registered in the first phase may have been linked to fraudulent cards.
This measure aims to improve the integrity of the SIM registration database.
The initiative is part of broader efforts to tackle fraud and enhance security.
