The Cyber Security Authority has officially cautioned the Ghanaian public against a rising trend of sophisticated online investment scams. These fraudulent activities are primarily coordinated through popular mobile messaging applications where perpetrators create groups to solicit funds from unsuspecting individuals.

According to official statements the suspected fraudsters utilize deceptive marketing tactics by promising unrealistic profit margins within short timeframes. Many of these schemes claim to be legitimate financial enterprises or cryptocurrency trading platforms to gain the trust of their targets.

Investigations by the authority indicate that once a victim transfers money the administrators of these groups often block the user or delete the communication channel entirely. This makes the recovery of lost funds extremely difficult for the victims and local law enforcement agencies.

Officials have advised the public to verify any investment opportunity with the Securities and Exchange Commission before committing personal capital. The authority emphasizes that legitimate financial institutions do not typically use private chat groups as their primary method for fund collection or investment management.

The public is encouraged to report any suspicious digital activity to the national cybersecurity incidents reporting points. Ongoing monitoring of these platforms continues as the state seeks to identify the individuals behind these illegal operations and prevent further financial harm to the community.
