Tomato traders in Kumasi have stopped travelling to Burkina Faso. This decision is due to increasing security concerns in the neighboring country.
Transporters who carry the tomatoes across the border have also suspended their services. They state that the risks are too high.
The move comes after reports that eight Ghanaian citizens were killed in a recent attack in Burkina Faso.
Traders emphasized they can no longer risk their lives to transport tomatoes into Ghana.
This suspension in trade could lead to a shortage of tomatoes in Ghana. Consumers may experience higher prices for the commodity.
