The Northern Regional Command of the Ghana Police Service has introduced a new anti-crime team. This team is named Red Maria.
The main goal of the Red Maria taskforce is to fight crime more strongly. This includes stopping criminal activities in Tamale and the areas around it.
The announcement was made by DCOP Wisdom Lavoe, the Northern Regional Commander.
This new taskforce comes after people in the region expressed concerns. There were worries about an increase in criminal activity.
The Red Maria taskforce is expected to help make the region safer for everyone.
