Ghana is increasing its efforts to stop the flow of illegal drugs into the country. The government plans to acquire new, high-tech scanners soon.
The Interior Minister, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, stated that a modern scanner for the main airport is expected this week.
This equipment will help authorities find narcotics being transported illegally.
More scanners are also planned for Ghana's ports and land borders.
These will arrive with support from the governments of Singapore and the Netherlands.
The minister shared this information when speaking to a parliamentary committee.
He mentioned that some delays had occurred in obtaining the necessary equipment.
These new scanners are a key part of strengthening Ghana's border security.
